"Then He came to the disciples and found them sleeping, and said to Peter, “What! Could you not watch with Me one hour? 41 Watch and pray, lest you enter into temptation. The spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak.” (Matthew 26:40)
As we watch the events of the end times unfold it is easy to fall into the temptation of worry, dread and fear. Although it is human nature to be “concerned” about our daily needs during this time of economic recession, we must remain aware so that we do not fall victim to the spirit of fear. The spirit of fear is one of Satan’s most used weapons during these hard times.
Luke 21: 25 - “And there will be signs in the sun, in the moon, and in the stars; and on the earth distress of nations, with perplexity, the sea and the waves roaring; 26 men’s hearts failing them from fear and the expectation of those things which are coming on the earth, for the powers of the heavens will be shaken. 27 Then they will see the Son of Man coming in a cloud with power and great glory. 28 Now when these things begin to happen, look up and lift up your heads, because your redemption draws near.”
In these last days, many will fall by the wayside giving in to the spirit of fear that will overwhelm the earth. The key to the survival of our faith is found in II Timothy 1: 7 – “For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.” How to we retain this “sound mind” in the midst of the last battle for our souls? - by continuous communion with God through the Holy Spirit. Beloved, it is imperative that you cultivate a continual prayer life from this moment on. This will enable you to stand strong in your faith when all else around you begins to fall.
